Welcome

Echo is an early-stage journaling app that helps you reflect through voice and text entries, supported by AI. We know you're sharing personal thoughts, and we take that seriously. This policy explains—in plain language—what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it while Echo is still in development.

Our Promise

• Your reflections are yours.
• We don't sell or share your journal data.
• We only use information needed to make Echo work and improve your experience.
• Some systems (like in-app deletion and automated backups) are still being built; we'll update this policy as they launch.

What We Collect

• Information you provide: your email (if you sign in) and any journal entries, recordings, or notes you create.
• Basic app analytics: device type, crashes, and usage patterns to improve performance.
• Optional biometric login: if you enable Face ID/Touch ID, your device handles that locally; Echo never receives biometric data.

How We Use Your Information

• Operate core features (record, save, and view reflections).
• Improve stability and fix bugs.
• Develop new journaling and reflection features.

We do not use your reflections for advertising or to train external AI models.

AI Processing

When you use Echo's reflection feature, your text or voice transcript may be processed by trusted AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). We send this content without identifying details, and our accounts are configured for zero data retention, so providers delete it after processing.

How We Store and Protect Data

• Stored on trusted cloud platforms (Supabase/Google Cloud).
• Encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Limited, audited access by the Echo team for debugging only.
• We'll publish additional security details as the product matures.

Data Retention and Deletion

• Email useechojournal@gmail.com to request account deletion.
• During pre-launch, deletion may require manual steps.
• Once our automated deletion system is live, all user data will be fully erasable within 30 days.

Your Rights

You can ask us to see, correct, delete, or stop using your data. Contact useechojournal@gmail.com.

Updates

We may update this policy as Echo evolves. If we make major changes, we'll post an updated version in-app and on our website before they take effect.
